Online Group Reading and Conversational Classes are an economical option for receiving online tutoring. Here are my current offerings.
Reading Comprehension: Inferences and Context Clues
In this class students will learn what it means to make inferences and use context clues. Then, we will practice these skills together. We will also learn new vocabulary and skills to help think critically about we read.
Activities include reading aloud, answering questions, and sharing ideas.
My teaching style is compassionate and motivational. I also believe that learning should be fun. Parents looking for more of a “drill sergeant” type of teacher are not likely to resonate with my teaching style. I believe that bringing out the best in a student requires patience, encouragement, and building rapport .
Details: This is a one-time class. It is hosted online via Zoom. Ages 8-11.

Students will learn how to identify the main idea and supporting details of various reading passages. We will work together to practice finding the main idea and supporting details. We will also learn new vocabulary and skills to help think critically about we read.
No prior knowledge is required.
Activities include reading aloud, answering questions, and sharing ideas.
The purpose of using the selected readings is not only to keep things engaging, but also to introduce character values that will serve students well in life.
